2022 continues as it began with more new customers than ever, and always expanding product capabilities. This article summarizes what’s new in 2022.
SQL Server 2022
Windocks is now the sole provider of Windows SQL Server containers, with support for all releases and editions of SQL Server 2008 onward and now includes SQL Server 2022. Windocks containers include the database engine, and optionally can include reporting (SSRS), analysis (SSAS), integration (SSIS), and agent services. Windocks containers are 100% compatible with Active Directory and all existing infrastructure, and combines the benefits of containers (speed, automation), with the security and compatibility of SQL Server instances.
Writable SQL Server snapshots
Windocks is known for zero-copy database cloning for SQL Server, Oracle, and other relational and NoSQL data. Now, these writable clones can be snapshotted to create a new image, guaranteeing reproducible data. This is particularly valuable for ML experimentation, and database development and testing.
As far as I know, Windocks is now unique in supporting writable SQL Server snapshots on the Windows!
Production database image timeline
As far as we know, Windocks is the only firm that supports near real-time SQL Server zero-copy clone image updates (via transaction log backups), that can be implemented periodically as needed or via an automated schedule. Now, these updates each create a new image, creating an effective timeline of production images that enable users to roll forward and backward on a production image timeline.
Commvault, Idera, Red Gate SQL Server backups
Customers’ needs vary and Windocks has added support for building clonable SQL Server images from Commvault, Idera SQL Safe, and Red gate backups.
Copy only transaction log backups
We always prioritize support for customers' needs, and recently had a request for copy only transaction log backup support, and like all of our other features it's now built-in and supported for anyone who can benefit from this.
